Last time I checked 80% frames were 100% legal by ATF standards.

That will probably change in the future, because the rules continue to be manipulated. Man is his own worst enemy..

Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers but yall are talking about things that "might be" and "could be" somewhere in a murky future. For now, nobody outside of California is talking about making 80% frames illegal. That's like saying Marijuana "might be" legal across the USA some day so why not start growing/selling/smoking it now. When and if 80% frames become against the law *then* would be the time to prohibit discussion. But for right now, this very moment, they are legal and what is a purer form of gunsmithing than crafting a frame from as close to scratch as most people care to attempt. Just voicing another opinion here.

Um, except that this owner has put a sign on the door proclaiming this to be an open forum.

Well, Kevin, don't mean to ruffle any feathers here either but that same door you came in, you can exit. The owners and moderators have decided they do not want 80% discussions here. So be it. I hate Walmart. Can't stand to go there. So, I don't. I don't go try to have them agree with my thinking nor change their ways for me. I just don't go.

It is an open forum, with caveats. Its explained elsewhere, was before you came.

This will be the end of the matter, and consider this your one warning Kevin.

Thanks.

Apparently, it didn't take long.

That's unfortunate since my only builds are from 80% or less since I'm in CA. I can't buy just a frame, so I have to drill a couple holes, mill a couple slots and then begin how anyone else would. How about I do those operations first, then start a thread with a "finished" frame... Does that get around ITAR?

Couch, you have been a longtime participant, and I think you get what we are trying to stay away from. You start a thread with a finished frame and it has a name on it, I think it would fly. The object here is to stay away from anything pertaining to home building a frame by someone unlicensed to do so, legal or not..

Limited 10 is present on this forum, and suffers the same as you in California.
If you have any questions you are welcome to call me and I'll clarify.
Your contributions are welcome here.
