I didn't keep an accurate time.. I had so many disruptions, with Taxes, and othe first of the year requirements, I would go a full weeek without touching it.. It goes rather fast once the fixtures are figured out and adjusted..

I hope to one day having a mill, lathe etc.
For now I have a nice wood shop but want to learn more in my retirement before I die..

Gonna start a guitar in a few weeks when it warms up, I have a couple 100 year old pieces of mahogany from the church up the road that just ring when plunked

I love the finished look....lol. So disconcerting to the general viewer. "where did the lugs go!?!"

That's better than "Damn, forgot the lugs!"

How do you accomplish the rifling, Jerry? I apologize if you have already shown that part but I follow this thread religiously and don't remember that part. If it is proprietary, I understand completely. Later, Denny

The blanks I use are same as match rifle blanks.. already precision rifled. I am presently using Douglas blanks.. Except for the blanks I have from Chuck Warner.. Blanks again, but designed expressly for the 1911.

Two barrels going at once.. One of Chuck's is starting to take shape..

Douglas 12 twist.. Rear of the lower lugs squared with the fillet in place.

12 twist lower lug roughed out..Really excited about the twist and rifling ratio changes... The 14 twist is smoking.. put approx. 1000 rounds thru it this week.. The targets are fantastic... almost a 50 yard clean today.. 98..almost..
