Greg, I spoke with another BE smith on the phone today who wholeheartedly shares your sentiments...but he was referring to the tall, adjustable target sights with the round double stake deal on the front sight, and the rear that is hanging out there trying to make you bleed...I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole myself, a friend has some, but I quite like these for a general use or multipurpose pistol...not a fan of stake-in, but the tenon is long gone now.

Thanks - Numbnut :D

So my new Stainless Commander's front sight came loose. Poorly staked from the factory, no back cut inside the slide and therefore the sight had no "meat" staked out into the slide to retain it.

I was too lazy to do it myself (and don't have a staking tool), and dealer said they'd fix it for free because Colt would take forever. Waste of time... I even enclosed destructions ;-) on how to properly back-cut/countersink the slide, use a new sight with meat on it, stake, etc., and they just re-staked the same sight, took a couple weeks. Pffft.....

Looks like I may be drilling and tapping another sight.

Nice job! I like a guy who isn't afraid to try something... Unorthodox. :)

I like the Millet sights too. Had a set of adjustables with the same outline pattern on my old frankenstein 45. Loved them. Wish I could find another set.
