A nickel Series 70 Colt reborn as a pin gun. The comp was made from an EGW bank fitted to a Kart NM barrel. Also installed an EGW grip safety as well and ambi thumb safety. The sights are Heinie, the front sight was was fitted with a strip of 24K gold by Ted Yost. Finish is blue over hard chrome.

Why do they call it a "Pin Gun"? Does having ports make it a Pin gun?

Thanks

Pin guns were built specifically for bowling pin matches. That was a popular sport at one time and still is to some degree. In fact I hear that it may be having a resurgence. The first pin guns had a large muzzle weight. Later ports were added. IPSC race guns were coming along then, too. Folks wanted less muzzle rise with faster recovery and the compensator race took off from there.
