Decades before the Wildey, LAR Grizzly, Desert Eagle, and Coonan pistols, Fred Stevens designed a semi-auto pistol for the .357 Magnum. Stevens is best remembered today for the High Standard Derringer.

Somewhere in my pile of papers from the 1980's go around at Coonan Arms is a copy of an article with a picture of Mr. Stevens holding a pistol of his design.

It appeared to be a rather nice pistol about the size of the Coonan.
Certainly smaller and, I'm guessing, lighter than the Desert Eagle.

Looks sort of intricate at first glance of the drawings.

Charlie Petty's interview with Fred Stevens can be found in the Nov/Dec 1983 issue of American Handgunner.
