Hello guys. I'm an amateur machinist and now also a handgun guy. Back when I was a teen I'd go hunting with family but that was a while ago and with shotguns and rifles. Never shot handguns until past August when I took an NRA Basic Pistol course. Now I'm into them. I just started reloading too. So it looks like my two likes, machining and handguns, will maybe merge one day. I've got an STI Lawman 5 that doesn't eject live rounds. I've been thinking of milling the port, elongating it, just a little to help. Oh, I have a Johannson/Atlas small knee mill, the precursor to the Clausing 8520 and a SB Heavy 10 lathe. Love these machines. I also Mig weld. It's not the best but it has worked for me. So I found this site while looking for suggestions and experiences on maybe elongating the port so here I am. I know I'll learn a lot. I doubt I can add much, except maybe in machining. Glad to be here.

Welcome aboard! Lots of pros and serious amateurs here who can assist. Take a knee on milling that Lawman. Post up your problem with pictures in the Amateur and DIY sub-forum below. There are likely other issues that can be addressed without milling the port.
