I returned a rifle that I bought the other day to the gun shop....regrettably. We did strike a good deal though:

I exchanged it for this little scattergun:

Mossberg 930 SPX 8 rounds of power with an 18.5" barrel. It wasn't even on the rack at the store for a whole day

I took the Mossberg straight out of the box and 25 assorted rounds of shotgun ammo ranging form Hornady Critical Defense buckshot, slugs, 4 ought, 7.5 shot, a mixed bag. The last round failed to feed - so I reinserted it in the mag tube and cycled the action - bang. I don't think I had the gun locked into the shoulder as well as I should have had.

I shot the slugs at 25 yards; the first three were a clover leaf one hole.

The only "bad" experience was on the 4th slug, the rear sight fell off...so much for checking the tightness of the locking screw! Operator error.

All in all I am impressed by the Mossberg; it cycles a lot faster then my Benelli M1. Although I'd much rather still have the FN-49 the Mossberg was a good swap.

I use the exact same model for 3 gun. Welded and reshaped the lifter and opened the loading port. Loads like hot butter now. So far has eaten every shell I've stuffed in it over about 8 matches.

Pull the rear sight off and one by one remove the screws holding the rail on and reinstall them with some red Loctite.
You'll be happier in the long run not having to source replacements when they shoot loose and fall into the dirt.
