I have always liked the feel of the Hi-Power but most I have actually shot / been issued were military quaility and the trigger was terrible, the sights sucked, mags don't fall free etc. Ok, dad has passed and I now have his T code Hi-Power. It's not a safe queen, just a decent solid (all stock) nightstand gun. Has a couple of thin spots in the blue and a rust pit or two, also has the tiny fixed sights. I pulled the mag disconnect, now they drop free and much but not all the gritty feel is gone from the trigger.

So the question is, if I want to prep this Hi-Power for carry duty, is changing the sights and working the trigger over as well as solid carry mods like mag well chamfer and checkering the straps going to kill the value? As far as finish goes, I would prefer melonite but may go back with the hi polish blue. Were talking pro quaility work here not hack job stuff. Will the value stay about the same reflected by the work or is it going to kill it no matter what?

Thanks,

Capt. Thomas

You won't realisticly gain any value, other than for use, but its essential to use a good smith.

As for value? unless its some very rare example, have at it.

We've been known to tinker with them.. :D

There's also Don Williams, Jim Garthwaite, Heirloom Precision, and C&S. I Think that covers most of them.
