Is a alarm system required or just strongly recommended? I am out of town and I don't think a alarm system would do me much good. Drive is almost 1/2mile long, cant see house from road till leaves have all fell off trees, even then if you are not looking for it you wont see it. By time a law would arrive any thieves could of removed what they could and had a cook out.? the only plus I can see with a alarm system would be if it have pictures. Nice big mug shot of those who don't belong would make recovery some what faster than waiting on someone else to take the steps through the legal system to have property returned, If you are that lucky.

I've had a few ATF investigators explain to me that they don't have a definition of "secure storage." They put that burden on the licensee to determine what is "secure" for your circumstances and location. If you are comfortable, they usually are too as long as your business security is reasonable. What is secure in a small rural town may not be very secure in Detroit.

I just received the latest newsletters from the ATF this morning:
https://www.atf.gov/sites/default/files ... lume-2.pdf

See page 3, Item 6. You'll notice that they list ways to improve your business' security but do not define what is necessary.

The ATF might not, but your city/county might. My city does, and the ATF checks (although does not enforce) city secure storage requirements.

I am leaning towards getting security system install just for pictures. If I have a photo of someone, if they are in my county I will be able to find them or someone who know who they are. then they get to wish I would of called law.
