You are correct! Nietzsche never saw one of these babies. :D

Awesome sight to behold! Saved my bacon a couple times.

Puff...love it. I'm not familiar with the numbers, but my understanding is that plane dumps a good bit of brass too.

There was a great book on the AC-47, AC-119, and AC-130 titled appropriately enough "Gunships: A Pictorial History of Spooky". It has a great photo of a crewman with a snow shovel trying to clear out 20x102mm brass and links.

I see someone else has the photo online:

I think there is a valid reason for the Spooky name. From what I remember, if you were in the area you were likely dead as they were basically putting a round into every square yard when circling a designated target.

I remember a story about someone who scrawled on a restroom wall "God is dead" signed Nietzsche. Someone else has followed that up with "Nietzsche is dead" signed God. I think that's called the last word..........

I don't know if they still use a snow shovel. The sights for the pilot on early ships were simple cross hairs painted on the window next to the pilots head. Put the cross on the target and pivot.

If my memory is right, it was one shot per square yard for 100 yards square. That is final, good-bye.
