Picked this Ballester-Molina up this morning; matched serial number on frame and inside of slide; all matching numbers on frame, slide, barrel, and two magazines. No import marks to be found anywhere... I can't find any evidence that it's been refinished; if that holds up to your discerning eyes - I think winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Actually an interesting pistol. Looks similar to some of the Star products. Curious about the two holes down near the butt behind the mag well window. Do I recall correctly that the barrel and magazines will interchange with the 1911? Two different numbers on the frame and slide. Serial number and ??????

Bill (and others) it is said to be a cross between the Colt and Star Autos; with only the magazines being able to be (safely) swapped.

Their are two different numbers on the Ballester-Molina; the number on the inside of the slide and on the mainspring housing (which is fixed by the way) is the serial number. The numbers on the magazines, slide, barrel, and right side of the frame are a property number or some other type of ID number. Since the numbers on my gun match themselves, this is an all matching gun. What's nice is that I have two matching magazines!
